On December 2014, the Minister of the Environment, The Horourable Aglukkaq, C. P., M. P., informed the Canadian Heritage of Quebec that she had designated Sir John A. Macdonald’s summer residence as a national historic site. This designation followed the recommendation of the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.
On June 5, 2015, the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announced the designation of Sir John A. Macdonald’s summer residence as a National Historic Site of Canada.
The Canadian Heritage of Quebec has been the owner of the Sir John A. Macdonald House since 1981 and we take care of its preservation and its management as a Bread & Breakfast (Les Rochers) with the local community. The B&B is open during the summer season.
